Many developers have tried it but not many have succeeded. What makes an educational game fun, and how do you make a fun game educational? We at MonkeyLearning think we have the answer for you.
First of all, we don’t think you should make any concessions on either side of the spectrum. There is no need to make a game less fun to make it more educational, nor should you give up any learning moments to make a game more fun. Of course, in a perfect world, the children would learn without any distraction, but studies have found that when a child feels more comfortable in an environment, it learn better and takes information in quicker. This is why MonkeyLearning is set in one of the biggest and most beautiful cities in the world, Bangkok.
Secondly, the children will be guided through this massive city’s most famous locales with Messi the Monkey. This character has been designed specifically to make the children feel more at ease in the environments they will visit and guide them through the learning adventure they will embark on. Of course, Messi the Monkey will not just be there to guide them, but will also make the whole experience a lot more fun with his funny antics and other naughtiness.
Talking about the educational side, this part of MonkeyLearning will be introduced in a very traditional way. Many of the people who have played videogames before will be very comfortable with this, as every locale is being overrun by pumas. These pumas can only be beaten by outsmarting them, and the player will, with the help of Messi the Monkey, have to solve English grammar exercises and mathematical problems to beat these dastardly animals. This will work like a boss battle from a traditional game, and after your child has successfully beaten a puma, they will unlock the next part of the game.
MonkeyLearning has been released on 24th of March for iPad (iOS 8.1) and Android Tablets (4.4).
